Finlay MacKenzie obtained his first degree in Biochemistry from the University of Glasgow and his MSc in Clinical Biochemistry from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of London. He is the Director of the UK NEQAS for Thyroid Hormones and has being working in External Quality Assessment for most of his professional life. The Birmingham Quality Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital offers a range of endocrine and chemistry EQA services, though Thyroid is his first love! One of his interests is in data handling and presentation, as he believes that too much emphasis on pedantic statistics is alienating the subject for the jobbing scientist. He currently sits on the UK NEQAS Executive Board and is the Secretary of EQALM.
